This book tells the thoughts and courage of a man, woman, girl, and boy as they decide to be part of the Great Migration of African Americans from the southern parts of the United States to the North between 1915 and 1930. From leaving family members behind to await train ticket money to the questioning uncertainty of whether one could make a good life for their family as the conductor announces that they had reached their destination. The also author shares her own family’s experience as she was part of the Great Migration at only 4 months of age.
