This FREE printable math game provides a fun, hands-on way to practice adding fractions together to make a whole. Download the Making it Whole fractions game!
Fractions can be fun; especially when you can turn them into a game! Making it Whole is a math game designed to help make fractions just that…more fun! Students will practice adding fractions together to make one whole. It is just one of the many math printables and printable games that I share here on my blog!
Preparing the Game:
Print the fraction cards included in the download onto cardstock paper. (Choose from either the light or dark version depending on the thickness of your paper). Laminate for durability and then cut the cards apart.
How to Play the Game:
Shuffle all the cards and place the deck face down. Turn over the top card, placing it in the middle. Each player takes turns turning over a card. If their card makes a whole with the card turned over in the middle, they keep both cards. If the cards do not make a whole, the player puts their card face up in the middle. The next player takes their turn. Play continues until all of the cards are gone. The player with the most cards wins.
See the Game in Action:
Follow along below to see a sample game in action. Begin by turning the top card over and placing it in the middle.

NOTE: You can still play this game even if you have not taught about reducing fractions. Simply acknowledge making wholes with the same denominator.
