Welcome to Mama’s Mission of the Month! My hope is that this will help me {and you} follow through on some of the goals that we have set for the month! So, if you are a mama and you want to join in, check out the intro post! (If you have already read the rules, you can easily grab the buttons from the Buttons Tab on the top of the sidebar.)

Mission of the Month

June Mission Update:  Thanks to my new Mission of the Month Printable Checklist, I was able to get quite a bit more done this month. Here is how I did:

Personal:

1. Get up before the kids everyday during the week so that I can exercise, water the garden, and have my prayer time/Bible reading time. (Disclaimer: This is not applicable to our vacation time! LOL!!)

2. Memorize four new Bible scriptures with the kids! I have purchased The Discipleship Curriculum from Learn Christ to use for both myself and my kids!

3. Complete 10 scrapbook pages.

4. Make a printable Mama’s Mission of the Month chart as a visual to help encourage me to complete my missions! Download my Mission of the Month Printable Checklist here!

Marriage:

5. Re-instate date night!

6. Revisit our 2012 goals!

Parenting:

7. Change up the kid’s chore charts to make them “work” for us a little better.

8. Teach, train, and add at least one more responsibility to each child.

9. Work on finding a way to eliminate (or at least minimize) some of the yelling by me (and the kids). I’ve starting reading the book Good and Angry:Exchanging Frustration for Character in you and your Kids.

10. Make Give/Save/Spend pouches for the kids.

Homeschooling:

11. Decide on and read one read-aloud to the kids.

12. Begin planning for the upcoming school year.

13. Commit to the Index Card a Day challenge (except during our vacation). Check out some of our cards!

Homemaking:

14. Clean out the garage.

15. Try making sour dough bread from a starter. This will have to be put off until July!

Ministry/Friendships/Extended Family:

16. Write 2 letters.

17. Begin having Cosby Show marathons with our friends! We were blessed with a movie projector so we were able to watch the shows under the stars! It was a blast!

Financial:

18. Update our budget.

Blogging/Online Activity:

19. Finish transferring all of my printable files over from 4shared to my MamaJenn.com site. Ugh…almost done!

20. Update my printable page to include ALL of my free printables. Still needs a bit more work!

I did get a lot more done, but I still a few things left to do. So…

Mission NOT Accomplished YET

5. Plan fun activities into my and the kids daily schedule.

I did use this list for June and it was REALLY helpful in my planning and thinking and goal setting! I had to revamp it a tiny bit, but it helped me stay on track and keep a focus when life (as is usual) got crazy. I was able to stay focused on working out 2x a week, having a garage sale, and participating in a Bible study

I have already set up my July list and really enjoy having this tool in my arsenal! For July, I’ll be starting a new Bible study, having a 2nd garage sale and focusing on adding some exercises to my workout routine and nutritional changes to my diet for my overall health. It’s nice to have a list that covers the various areas in my life!

How do you go on date nights with 4 children? Do you have a family member or someone who will regularly watch the children for you? This has been a struggle for us…we have 5 children and there is No One we know who will watch 5 children while we have fun. Emergencies and Dr appts maybe, but not for fun…

I have been looking at getting the book “good and angry.” How do you like it so far?

I actually have 5 kids too and yes, you are correct, we have a few babysitters that we pay to come over to watch the kids so that me and my hubby can have some fun, kid-free time together! It was awhile before I was confident enough to let someone come and stay with the kids, but over the years I have been blessed to find some really great babysitters who are able to manage all my little ones! In the past we have a had a couple of people offer to watch the kids (for free) so that we could go out, but we have decided that our time together is worth the cost of a babysitter. So, we don’t wait around for folks to offer babysitting out of the kindness of their hearts…otherwise we would only really go on dates when our parents are in town to watch the kids! LOL!!

Hi Debbi! I’m so glad that the list was helpful for you! How did you do with your July list?

So far, so good! I haven’t finished reading it yet though! Finishing it is part of my mission for the month of August! So perhaps at that point I could give you more insight on the book! ;-)
